Androgenetic Alopecia Hair Loss
Is there any solution for androgenetic alopecia in women?
My sister 27 yrs old has been experiencing thinning of hair and hair loss since 3 yrs. (possibly triggered off by stress and dieting).Her test results of hormones ,blood , sugar etc r normal . Dermotologists prescribed Minoxidil /Mintop .This was of little help and the hair growth is reversible once the medicine is stopped . Is there any cure for this condition
The answer actually lies within your question:
You only get androgenic alopecia if you have raised androgens – male hormones. Her doctor should be able to prescribe anti-androgens.
If her temples are receding that is a clear sign of raised androgens.
Of a technical note women with cystic ovaries can develop androgenic alopecia. Clues to this are an increase in facial / body hair. Weight gain.
If your sister is into competitive sports or a “gym-aholic” this can raise androgens via the adrenal glands.
