Does insulin contribute to breaking the hair?
I am a type 1 diabetic (diagnosed when he was 9 years old) and have been having problems lately with my hair. It breaks off and is unbelieveably fragile. I am a woman of mixed race, and so just assumed she was taking care of my hair improperly (that die every wild colors, using dryers, curling irons and a lot of products), but my husband made a comment the other day that my loss hair could not be due to an excess of style, but rather because of my use of insulin. Is there any truth to this? If there is, is there anything I can do, or am convicted brittle hair, angry at life.
I think it's the stress you're putting your hair because of all colors, heat and products. I've been in the insulin for 21 years and have always had healthy hair. Start taking care of your hair properly, and can not be condemned to the wrath of lifelong brittle hair.
