Need help with thyroid Armour dosing question!?

Last year I had 1/2 of my thyroid removed due to a golf-ball sized goiter. My bloodwork was fine before the surgery so my Endo didn’t prescribe any meds. After surgery I got very tired, became impotent, lost most of my hair, gained weight, and feel awful. My Endo said that my thyroid bloodwork was fine. I begged for 60mg of Armour and it helped until it got reformulated last summer. So I then doubled it and am better but still have every hypo symptom in the book. My new Doc says that my last bloodwork shows TSH below 0.1 and she wants to lower my meds to 30mg. I only have 1/2 a thyroid and am afraid of cardiac arrest and job loss if she does that. What should I do?

In the face of the current evidence, you need to listen to your doctor. You are hypeRthyroid, and taking more medication will make you more hypeRthyroid, and you will be in danger of cardiac arrest from that.

But if your doctor hasn’t done free T3 and free T4 tests, then she needs to. If she won’t, you need to fire her and find someone who will.

Your symptoms and your TSH don’t jive together. So you need to quit relying on TSH. TSH isn’t a thyroid hormone. It doesn’t cause your symptoms. And measuring TSH is just an indirect, second hand way to guess at what your actual thyroid hormone levels are. The thyroid hormones are free T3 and free T3. Your dosage should be based on your thyroid hormone levels.
