Losing Hair Newborn
Losing Hair Newborn
My daughter has a very dry scalp, patches of oily looking scales…..?

shes 3, and where the oily looking scales are she seems to be losing hair. Does anybody know what this could be and what I could use to help prevent it? I am taking her to the doctor on tuesday to get her doctors opinion, just curious if anybody had any ideas to do before then.

One person suggested that it was cradle cap, can you get that as you get older, I thought that was exclusively for newborns and infants, if it is cradle cap, how can I prevent it from happening again?

Actually it sounds like psoriasis or eczema. Since it’s on her head, you’ll have to see what the dr. can give you (probably a prescription shampoo)….on other body areas it’s usually hyrdocortisone or just heavy-duty moisturizer like eucerin.

To get the scales off, soak the patch with baby oil & leave it over night (with a hat on, if you can talk her into it). In the morning it should be pretty easy to remove with a wet wash cloth. You should probably leave it scaly until the doctor sees her though, so he can get a first-hand view of the problem.
